New Syrian hamster advice?

Hello

I got a female Syrian hamster 2 days ago. She's been pretty jumpy and jittery since I got her. She's active in her cage and uses the wheel a lot.

I think I've been doing the right things by slowly letting the hamster get used to my scent etc, and she can happily take treats from my hand.

But today, the third day of having her, I put my hand in the cage with a sunflower seed on it. She slowly came over, cautious and jittery but then took the seed from my hand. I tried it again with no seed (I thought this would make her get used to my scent more) and she slowly came over, so I left my hand there for her to sniff and she bit me and it drew blood. It wasn't in an aggressive way but it's made me think - How can I ever pick her up if I know she will bite me?

I've had gerbils before btw but this is my first hamster.

Anyways, she's been running around in her ball, running around all over my bed but I just can't pick her up...

I put my sleeves over my hands and gently tried to lift her (properly, don't worry) but she just went mental and LEGGED it.

Any advice, if any one has read this far...?New Syrian hamster advice?
Hello! I am sure the reason she bit you after she took the sunflower seed is because your scent then smelled like a sunflower seed, and she might of thought you offered another one to her.

Anyways, let her get used to you. Let her smell your scent, and keep hand feeding her food. Maybe, she will surprise you and will walk on the palm of your hand.

I hope I helped!New Syrian hamster advice?
Continue to keep hand feeding her seeds and she will get use to your scent and get to know you. She may have bitten you because she was looking for food. My daughter had two hamsters and we were able to pick them up and hold them. Actually, they liked to cuddle!
