right on! ive been a vegitarian for 9 months so far (it's not a lot, but still... :D) at first you'll probably tempted here and there, but try not to notice it. if your parents were like my parents, they would try to get you to eat some meat, so respond with a firm no. within 3 months you'll get over majority of your cravings. your gonna be losing some protein, and i doubt you can eat like 5 pounds of fish, so eat lentils, white beans, nuts, and cous cous.Any advice for a new vegetarian? ?
Being a vegetarian DOES NOT mean you should only eat veggies.

Soy is a great supplement for real meat. My favorite brand of soy foods are Morning Star. They have everything from veggie Corndogs, to Veggie Burgers, to Veggie Bacon! It tastes the same as real meat to me and has the same nutritional value except not as much fat (which sometimes you need as a vegetarian). Eat your fish a lot to stay healthy and take some vitamins! Drink milk too, because it has protien in it!

Also, try not to tell people about stuff like that, becuause trust me, people will give comments such as ';you aren't vegetarian, you eat meat all the time, you're an attention getter, your a hypocrite'; Just don't advertise it is all I'm saying :)

Good luck and I really hope this helps. Stay healthy :)

Just saying, it would be great for your health to give up meat forever. I'm a semi-vegetarian(I eat white meat, but not red meat), and I lost a good ten pounds. Anyways, you'll need to eat more than just fruits, vegetables and fish. Here's a list....

-PROTEIN

Plant proteins should provide for you enough, as long as you make sure your calorie intake is high enough for your energy needs.

-MORE AMINO ACIDS

If plant proteins simply aren't enough, try eating whole grains, nuts or seeds.

-IRON

If you're not totally vegan, egg yolk provides iron well. However, dried beans, dried fruits, and spinach are good sources as well.

-VITAMIN B 12

This only comes naturally from animals. It can be found in some fortified (not enriched) breakfast cereals such as Total and some brands of nutritional brewer's yeast, or in supplements.

-VITAMIN D

You will need a reliable vitamin D source. If you don't get a lot of sunlight, you'll need a supplement.

-CALCIUM

Studies have shown that vegetarians absorb and retain more calcium than meat eaters. Cool, huh? Calcium can be found in greens such as spinach, kale and broccoli, and some legumes and soybean products.

-ZINC

Grains, nuts and legumes are good sources. If you chose to take a supplement, be sure to pick supplements containing no more than 15-18 mg zinc. Supplements containing 50 mg or more may lower HDL (';good';) cholesterol in some people.

Good luck!
be prepared to make your own dinner, etc. my mom whould sometimes make me something else for dinner if she knew that i would not eat their food (dishes with meat) but other times i made my own.

lots of veggies. and you can take meat out of a lot of dishes and it is still good. and fruit.

Just don't call yourself a vegetarian, since we don't eat animals and fish are animals.
