well you have to compare the pros and cons of a fixie and a road bike.

PROS:for a fixie

-cool

-light

-less maintenance

-one gear

-cheaper

PROS:for a road bike

-different gears (faster)

-can ';cruise';

-can break

-generally safer

- bigger choice

CONS: for fixed gear

- cannot break right away

- only one gear, so if it snaps, your doomed for a while

- may forget that you have to pedal with the wheels

CONS:for road bikes

- more maintenance

- heavier

- pricier
Kind of funny I had that problem last year. I spent months looking them up on the internet. There is problems and solutions for each different situation you are in. I needed an extra gear bike for the hills of Vermont. Now I in Oklahoma city and they do not add a brake down lane to the roads. There extremely bumpy and not very hilly. I have bought a 1500 dollar bicycle for 700 of ebay and not rode it since I got here.

If i had the best choice would be lighter is better, less cost part replacement is better, road type gives you tire width and tube type. If your going to put weight on it for traveling you need a strong frame. I bought a bike wagon for the back and it will solve that problem.

I also have an older 500 frame(not sure exact number) from the late 70s and it work great. Do not have to worry about scratching and it has wider tires.

As for handle bars...the more your back is angled the less air resistance. That why i like that curley handlebars. I also added coaster brakes for going down hill and easier to grab when getting on the bike. They help too for quick repairs. Foot rat traps make long trips less painfull and I added Leather over my seat for more butt comfort.
Well if your looking for a good bmx bike that you can stil ride dirt jumps i recomend that Black Eye Park Pro 09. Its a little over 400 but its worth al of it.

I'm a shy girl starting 7th grade at a new school, any advice? Hair? Clothes? Anything? (pix inside) Thanks!

Ok well I am starting 7th grade at a new school, (It's pretty small). I always start out really shy at new schools because I don't like my voice, mainly because I say the ';R'; sound a little different sometimes and I don't wanna be made fun of, but I am athletic (6:42 mile time and coulda done better), smart (straight As this year), artistic (won some awards), play guitar, and some other stuff. Oh and I'm not girly at all but not a total tomboy, but I like sports and stuff and I'm good at them. Ok so having said that, do you have any outfit ideas for me? Links/Pics encouraged! Thanks. Oh and should I get my ears pierced? If so, what kind of earrings? A couple more things, I'm getting my hair cut this week and I was thinking about getting layers again because mine kinda grew out but last time when I got layers my hair was a huge poofball! So any hair ideas? Thanks. Oh and I would love any tips for me to overcome my shyness at my new school, and I guess any advice really for 7th grade!!!!I'm a shy girl starting 7th grade at a new school, any advice? Hair? Clothes? Anything? (pix inside) Thanks!
I no how you have felt the best advice for you is just to become more confident I no alot of people are probably going to tell you that but you are naturally pretty and the best feature of yourself is the confidence and plus thats wat attracts friends to come talk and to have a sense of who you are is what attracts boys they think that is sexy.

Now for the clothes, it really depends on what type of personal style you have like if you are preppy I like shopping at Ambercrombie and Fintch, Hollister and American Eagle but mostly I like shopping at Areopostale check out their websites you might like their clothes also smetimes I like to change up my style I shop at pacsun for a lil wild prints.

Next for the make up mascare is the one make up thing I love make sure you dont loose yourself with all the make up on make up should hide negitives and enhance positives of your face but start slow because you want to become gradually pretter as you get older not be so pretty all when young then all you develoup your face dosnt enhance. I like the natural look the best with a light shimmery pink shadow almost matellic and black mascara try if u want black or brown eyeliner under and to giv extra try curling eyelashes just make your eveys pop and lip gloss is best assessory in middle school.

Hair~ layers sound good just to let u no u might want to ask a hairstyleist for options for YOUR hairtype like layers on thick hair will cause extra thickness.

Hope this advice helps and good luck in middle school just dont loose your self and be confident!!!I'm a shy girl starting 7th grade at a new school, any advice? Hair? Clothes? Anything? (pix inside) Thanks!
wow all I have to say is wow you need to calm down and be yourself I know starting jr. high is scary but once you get in it's fun if you just be yourself don't act like someone your not or you will just end up regretting the whole year, I know I did
Try to be what you feel comfortable being. The best thing about a new school is that you don't have to continue to be who you were if you weren't happy with who you were. Good luck you will do great!
your UBERR pretty

and i LOVEE your hair.

i just have to tell you to be yourself..

try out makeups, and whatever clothes YOU like becuase, believe me...its way funner to be yourself than to care what other people thinkkk
awesome im going into 7th grade too we can be pen pals hehe want to just email me k thanks (we can look 4 clothes and accs together!!!!!)
be yourselff.
it kool and normal.. im gonna b a freshman soon so starting @ a new school is tough.... play it cool.. and be yourself.. bcuz if you start off tryin' to be sumthin ur not.. it'll be bad and hard to dig out of that confusion and try to get ppl to think tht ur wht you say ur not..

be yourself.. you make more/true friends tht way.
i just started 7th grade last year and the truth is it's not a huge deal. yes you may want to look good but trust me in a new school there will be LOTS of people and i'm almost positve you will find a friend. i was like you i love sports but i like some of the girly stuff too, and i had lots of talents... i turned out great with lots of great friends. as for your hair you should switch out from straight to curly every once in a while, and just remember to be yourself. good luck:]
Where I live seventh grade is ages 11-12. Im going in to year 10, and im 14. When i started secondary school, I felt the same as you, but don't worry! At your age nobody will think any different of you whether you have expensive clothes, pierced ears, immaculate make up or straightened hair. You can worry about that rubbish later!

For now, concentrate on being friendly and thoughtful. Introduce yourself to everyone and don't be afraid to say anything, even if it's just to raise your hand and ask a question in class.

If you are confident enough, believe me, you will have all the friends in the world, and they won't give one what you look like.

By the way, you have gorgeous hair, I wouldn't change it too much. Trust me-I would kill to have your curls! You also have a lovely smile, use it a lot when you start your school!

If anyone is deliberately hurtful to you and you are upset, flash your beautiful smile at them and tell them they're not worth your time :)

You sound pretty cool lovie, you'll do just fine, Im sure of it xx
My little sister is having the same problems you are. She's not super girly, but she's not super tomboyish.

For her, the thing that makes her feel the most confident is a cute outfit that she can be active in. Like this one:

http://z.about.com/d/kidsfashion/1/5/p/C鈥?/a>

With a cute aeropostle or hollister shirt paired with some cute rocket dog shoes.

As far as your hair goes, if layers make it poof out, try just making your curls come out better. There are plenty of hair products that are just for that. Possibly invest in a spiral curling iron.

Either way, you'll make new friends.

Just remember, be confident! That's the best way to succeed in life.

Find an outfit that suits you and tell yourself that you're the prettiest and most confident girl at that school.

The most important thing is to not stress over it! It'll make the school change so much harder.
i was in 7th grade last year so heres wat to except:

Clothes- most ppl shop at hollister abercrombie american eagle or designer stuff (marc jacobs juicy chanel etc.)

so buy their stuff and youll b ok!

Ears peirced-

definetly! EVERYONE has theres peirced. actually its kinda wierd not to. they have gr8 earrings at claires chanel or aeropostale.

Hair-

layers r kinda out rite now, so i would stick with straight. maybe get a straight perm if ur hair is wavy?

Shyness-

if ppl c u as outgoing and nice theyll want to talk to u but if ur all shy and everything u wont b that approachable. so just get out of ur shell! go up to ppl and say hey.

hope this helps!have fun in 7th grade! i had tons of fun last year!!
i was a new kid to last year i was entering 7th grade to and all i did was wear the normal clothes i wear and so enough people start to hang around you and try and get to know you try not to be shy in front of them but sometimes guys like girls that are shy :D
You're pretty with your hair curly :)

Seriously!!

I'm shy too and I'm trying to get better over the summer try talking to family friends more and the store clerks ask them questions without being hesitant..yeah u shuld get ur ears pierced but u dun have to cuz ur pretty either way!

honestly i think ur soo pretty with ur natural hair and umm

OUTFITS:

since ur not too girly, u shuld wear like bermuda shorts with maybe a tank but a color that u like with a white shirt underneath or jeans and flats and a 3/4 sleeve solid shirt that wuld be cutee..just work with wut u have and also make sure to look for cute clothes when u go shopping :)

idk what else too say but have fun!! oh yeah maybe u culd be in a club or sumthing like an art club :) good job on ur A's!! =D
a lil mascara can go a long way. your hair looks good curly, but try straightening your bangs. earrings, you might want to try some [retty dangly ones...but dont get in a fight while wearing tehm cuz if some1 pulls them it will hurt like hell trust me, :) as for your shyness, just be yourself and ignore what everybody is saying. it wont help with the shyness. if you listen to what everybody is saying and what everybody wants you to be then you will end up being somebody completely different then yourself
I move a lot so thats always happens to me want to be someone else but i think the best thing is to be yourself because you sound like a great person and with a lot of good talents i wish i could do what you do artistic and athletic.... i think the first day of school you should wear something really comfortable so you feel good like shorts in the knee and a cute shirt and flip flops... do not be shy everyone will feel the same way you are feeling just get everything out and be nice to everyone introduce yourself with new people and ask them to eat lunch with you .... i hope you have a great 7th grade like i did

New potential dog owner lookin for advice?

my co-worker has bull terrier puppies and are selling them for only $150 to me. THe dog is american mixed with british bull terrier. He swears his dogs are the friendliest in the world and would be great around kids , despite the stories i have heard. Is this a good dog to own as a family pet?New potential dog owner lookin for advice?
I doubt its actually a bull terrier if he is selling them for $150. Check out the bull terrier club of america webpage www.btca.com before you go look at the puppies so you know whether they actually are what he says.

Most dogs are not innately mean but anytime you get a large, headstrong breed, you lot of training is necessary to turn it into a good family pet.

If you are still unsure, don't take your kids with you when you go to look at the puppies. They of course will want one and you will feel mean saying no. Go look at them yourself first and make an informed decision. If they are really just mutt puppies, you might as well go to the shelter and get a puppy from there--you'll be saving a life instead of supporting someone who has irresponsibly brought more puppies into the world.New potential dog owner lookin for advice?
As a breed...YES! These ';particular'; pups?? WHO KNOWS! Have they been bred CORRECTLY?

Wormed %26amp;vaccinated%26amp; socialized%26amp;REGISTERED...ETC.???

All dogs are born w/their OWN temperament. It's UP TO THE OWNER to TRAIN *EVERYTHING* ELSE!
$150 for a bull terrier. Better find out whats wrong. We have a bad bull terrier breeder here and he sells his for $1500. Check local rescues for a family pet.
all dogs are good, it's how they are raised, that makes them good or bad.
any dog is good to own especially if you have them as babies so that you can train them on their attitude...dogs easily learn what is right and what is wrong....they are smart animals
Any dog, no matter what breed, can be ';brought up'; to be vicious and nasty...bull terriers, rotteweilllers, german shepherds, doberman pinschers, chows, etc. all have a bad ';rap'; so to speak. But like children, dogs will act the way they have been taught and trained. I had a pit bull terrier that was asweetheart...because he was smothered with love and trained well. ';There are only bad masters, not bad dogs';....a true saying, really. If you get a new puppy make sure you are home enough to take care of it and train it...and do not hit it when it has an accident, like so many people do.....that is what makes dogs ';people weary'; and anti-social.....give it a lot of love and encouragement. You will be rewarded with unconditional love and companionship for many years.........
every dog is different .

go look at the puppies and see how they are.

but most bull terriers are very friendly
yes they r if u wantto know if a particulr pup will be good take a good look at the parents if they r friendly the pup will b also
YES!!!!!!!!! They are great family dogs! Please realize you do need to work at having a good kid, as well as a good dog...Socialize and train! Let the puppy know what kind of dog you want him to be. Just like showing your kinds right and wrong, we can only hope everything turns out okay :)
Do dome research before you go look.

Look at www.akc.org and find the breed club for Bull Terriers and read everything there.

These are a headstong breed and a terrier to boot.

Be prepared to put in LOTS of time training with this dog and you will need to be firm with this dog if you are not the boss he will be.

They are a assertive type breed and take a frim hand and lots of training.

If you are not willing to spend lots of time training this is not hte breed for you.

Look at more laid back easy going willing to please dogs.
I'm a firm believer that it is how you raise and care for your dog that reflects on how the dog turns out. Care for your puppy and treat him/her with care, love and respect and your dog will in turn do the same for you.

If you mistreat your dog, then you can only expect your dog to mistreat you and others in return.

Any animal's realtionship with a human should be based 100% on trust, love and respect.

Want to play altissomo on tenor sax looking for a new mouthpiece and advice?

im looking to invest in a new tenor sax mouthpiece that will allow me to play altissomo without sacrificing too much low/midrange note quality. does metal/rubber make that much of a difference? i have my eye on a vandoren v16 t7 or t8 rubber mouthpiece, but didnt want to go for it without seeking advice first.

i also realize that it is not just the mouthpiece that makes the difference, but i want somewhere to start.

thanks for your help

(oh, i play a yamaha yts-62 horn, if it makes a difference)Want to play altissomo on tenor sax looking for a new mouthpiece and advice?
Hey there. Altissimo is much more the player than the mouthpiece. It is ridiculous to say a mouthpiece will allow you to produce altissimo. You develop the ability through practice. The equipment just aids you in the production, but if you can't hit any altissimo you've either got a lot of practice to do, very very bad equipment, or a combonation. I've got three ways to get better altissimo.

1.) First and usually ignored is the reed. The strength as well as type of reed has a lot to do with getting the higher frequencies. The horn isn't fully responsible for the pitch mostly because the highest fingering is F or F#. That means the Reed has to vibrate differently to accomplish the task. Now what reed works for you is up to you, but i find that the harder the reed the easier the altissimo. I also think ZZ's are good for it.

2.) The mouthpiece may not be the main role, but it certainly does play a part. I'd suggest you go to wwbw.com for trying out mouthpieces. You can try up to 4 different ones and try them for a few weeks. If you don't like them send them back.

3.) The player. Possibly the biggest part of Altissimo. When you play in the upper register, try very hard not to bite down, or else tone as well as intonation will go out the window. The secret is really in the throat. Try saying ';He'; into the sax. Also if you don't already, practice a bunch of over tones. They are another huge tool to get altissimo. That is when you finger low Bb and, using the throat, you play through the harmonic series as high as you can go. Not only that, but many players including myself find over tones to help overall tone quality as well. A great book for learning over tones is Top Tones by Sigurd M. Rascher. Also Hearing the note before you play it is very helpful for altissimo.

Another Point would be the fingerings your using for altissimo.

http://www.wfg.woodwind.org/sax/sax_alt_鈥?/a>

This Site has a bunch of fingerings that other players post. There are a bunch of options. Which fingering you do use depends. Are you aiming for inntonation. Are you going through a fast altissimo lick. So on.

Anyway, I hope i helped, and Good Luck on you search.Want to play altissomo on tenor sax looking for a new mouthpiece and advice?
Garrett has great advice. THe other part of learning it is studying and achieving the overtone series. Go buy books like Top Tones for Saxophone by Sigurd Rascher, Ted Nash's Study in High Harmonics, and others. These have exercises that will help you in learning to control your techniques for achieving overtone series and altissimo. A private lesson teacher is even better as they can make sure you are NOT adjusting your embouchure when working on these exercises as your embouchure is solid throughout. THe changes are in your throat, tongue position, etc.
I play a Peter Ponzol ML 100 i can crank out the altissomo notes like all get out as well as the low notes. I have another mouthpiece a Ernie Northway student mouthpiece and i can crank out the altissomo notes like all get out as well as the low notes.

Fantasy Football New Comer. Check out my team give me some advice please?

From England So only really know about proper football.

However I love fantasy baseball so I thought i'd give FF a try.

I drafted this morning how did i do? Heres my team

http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/鈥?/a>

thanks.Fantasy Football New Comer. Check out my team give me some advice please?
OK for first timer.

I didn't like Plaxico in round 2 over Edwards or Grant or MJD.

Based on the draft, you could have had Ryan Grant and Larry Fitzergald instead of Plaxico and Maroney. By waiting until round 3 %26amp; 5 for your RB's, you really needed to back that position up with more depth

7th round was a little too early for a defense.

Right away, drop Neil Rackers. You don't need to carry two kickers. Actually I'd drop one of your TE's as well.

Pick up a couple of RB's, and see if any of them turn out to be good. If they don't, you can always drop them later. Looking at the FA list, Julius Jones, Justin Fargas, Chris Johnson... I'd rather have any of those guys than a backup Kicker or TE right now.Fantasy Football New Comer. Check out my team give me some advice please?
very nice job for your first time. I would look into getting more RB's because those starters either get 3 carries or 30 carries a game. Also, this is the site thats best to keep updated on what is going on. Click NFL, then click players news. To the right you will see the position and team arrows. Its www.rotoworld.com
You did fairly well for a first time draft.. You made some bad choices that you couldn't have known were bad unless you had played fantasy football before.

Willie Parker and Laurence Maroney are high yardage, low Touchdown running backs, because they have running backs on their teams that are brought in during goal line situations. So because touchdowns are worth more points, you will get less points from your running backs than most other teams in your league. I would consider dropping your backup tight end to get another high upside running back. (There are quite a few this year, but chris johnson is still on waivers in your league)

Your Wide Receivers are all injury prone, and carry a risk. Burress is a great receiver, but has a history of missing at least two games a season with injury. Harrison is 36 years old, and missed most of last season with an injury. Chambers is fine as a number 3, and Moss and brown are fine backups. You have enough depth at this position to be ok should Burress or Harrison get hurt.

Your QB, TE, K, and DEF are fine. I would recommend dropping your second kicker and picking up another defense. You should play your defense based on the team they are opposing. (For instance: Don't play any defense against New England or Indy)

overall i'd give you about a B-. You'll have to do some work to make the playoffs

Sony is the way to go.Outstanding picture quality.
I would go for the Panasonic,Sony quality has gone down over the years and Toshiba have never been that good. Having said that nearly all the flat panels for lcd/plasma tvs are made by LG.

Good luck!I just started a new job and there are words that are confusing me like grantor and grantee..need advice?
Try relating this to your daily life. Take Grantor for instance, when you grant someone something you give to them. A grantor gives to a grantee(similar to employee - recipient of a job).
grantor= someone who is loaning the money out

grantee= someone who is borrowing the money

    New Roommates seeking advice...?

My roommate and I have known each other since high school (almost 15 years). We have been sharing a house together with our boys (I have a 6 year old and she has a 4 year old) for about a month. I don't have a car so I usually take the bus to and from work every day but since we moved in together, she has been driving me back and forth to work everyday. I give her $50 every 2 weeks for gas.

Last night I came home around 10:30pm (after being away from home for 4 days) and she was already in bed for the night. She left a letter on my bed stating that she will no longer be driving me back and forth to work everyday. She says the reason is because it takes too much time for her to drive me to and from my place of work and that she should be doing other things for herself like preparing her son's breakfast or dinner or for going to workout at the gym. This I understand, but what I don't understand is why all of a sudden this is an issue for her.

I haven't had a chance to speak to her about this yet and I really don't know what sort of approach to take. I understand what she is telling me but why didn't she speak up sooner? Can anyone help me out...I really don't know what I'm supposed to say in this situation.New Roommates seeking advice...?
Just say ok and start taking the bus. She is being passive/aggressive. Acting like it was fine to drive you and then up and changing her mind and not even telling you, but leaving a note.New Roommates seeking advice...?
Just tell her okay, thanks for taking me the last x number of weeks. It really is a lot of trouble and takes up way too much time.
    I would say:

No problem, I understand, t does take a lot of time.

I'm glad you let me know before it became a problem. As roomates, I'm glad we can talk about stuff.
Maybe at the beginning she thought she would be able to fit into her schedule, best think to do is sit down and found out what has changed

New mom, need advice with baby spitting up/vomiting?

Ok before anyone asks, yes I have taken my son to the pediatrician and gotten her professional opinion. I'm looking for some practical advice and/or suggestions.

My son is 5 weeks old. He was exclusively breastfed until about 1.5 weeks ago. He always spit up with my breastmilk, at least with every feeding. I started supplementing with formula because he was never getting enough from me. Anyway, I decided on a SOY based formula because of his spitting up, I figured this would be more gentle on his stomach.

Now he is completely on this formula. The spitting up has gotten worse, and he projectile vomits at least ONCE a day. We burp him BEFORE, DURING and AFTER every feeding. And we try not to move him after feeding him. We stop feeding when he stops eating, we try not to overfeed. We give him anywhere between 2-4 ounces (depending on how hungry he is) apprx. every 3 hours.

He does not have a fever, he has many wet diapers, and he has frequent bowel movements. He is also already 10 pounds (birth weight was 6 lbs. 15 oz). The doctor said that is great weight gain despite his spitting up/vomiting, which does not seem to faze him at all. He sleeps OK and is not continuously crying.

Sorry so long but I wanted to give all the details. The doctor said he is fine but just wanted some advice. Has anyone else experienced this? Should we try a MILK based formula to see how he does? I'm assuming he will spit up more, since I've head milk based formulas are harder to digest.

I know some babies are just spitters, but it's the vomiting that has me more worried. Thank you for reading and your answers!!New mom, need advice with baby spitting up/vomiting?
I had the same problem with my little girl she is younger though but she is on breast and formula ... but I found this to help me ALOT she hardly ever spits up anymore and when she would spit up she would spit up around 2 oz .... so try burping at every oz Worked WONDERS for us we also changed her bottle to dr browns so she was getting less air ... alot of that is air will make a baby spit up alot ( my dr gave me that advice hope it helps you )

    GOOD LUCK !!!

Mommy of a week old baby girlNew mom, need advice with baby spitting up/vomiting?
I had the same issue with my son. Not so much with vomiting but definitely spitting up. He however was on a milk based formula. The recommendations I had were to start with the milk-based and then go to soy if that doesn't work. If he is gaining weight then he is getting some of it and keeping it down. I would try the milk-based and see if there is a difference.

    New Moon Movie Advice Please!!!?

I know I've already asked this but I think I might have more success in this category = )

Ok, as pathetic as this situation sounds, I really need some advice!

Ok, so my friend and I are completely obsessed with Twilight and at the moment our purpose in life is to see New Moon. So, my friend lives down the road from the cinema and school and she invited me to go see the midnight showing of New Moon (so basically, we'd get to see it as soon as it comes out!). So I ask my mum and she was all ';we'll see'; and then over the next few days I spent ages persuading her to let me go and finally she says yes (we're 13 by the way) but I have to go to bed at like 8:00 every night the week before! I was like YES! And I was really looking forward to (aswell as FINALLY seeing the movie) strolling into school half asleep and then telling everyone why! But then my friend invited 2 of our friends, they couldn't come but made my friend promise not to go to the midnight screening. So we have to pretend we haven't gone to the midnight screening all through the school day and when we go see it with them! I've asked my friend if we HAVE to pretend, I mean, we're still gonna go see it with them, what does it matter if we go to the midnight screening as well? But she's all 'THEY'LL BE SO ANGRY! THEY'LL MURDER ME!' which I think is rather ridiculous!

Anyway, my question is WHAT DO I DO?! HELP!!!!!

Thanks! = )New Moon Movie Advice Please!!!?
you could grow upNew Moon Movie Advice Please!!!?
    This 'friend' sounds smart.

    Suck it up.
Just tell the truth. If people are so prepossessed with a movie that they need to hear all the details from you instead of going to see it themselves, they are the ones who don't have a life, I would think. If you don't go, say you didn't go. After all, one lie begats another lie, which will eventually come back and bite you in the rear end, so to speak.

So, if your friend doesn't want to go to the showing at midnight, all you have to do is tell the truth and say, ';Well, she WAS going to go, but she decided not to go, so I didn't go either.'; Blame it on the other person, not yourself. As you said, it's WAY past your bed time, anyway.

Father has been fighting for custody since. any Probono assistance or cival rights or constitutional rights lawyerswould be greatly appreciated here, I will even put up my house on the market and spilt the profit with someone who can turn this mess around. PS Child lives with him now and he is facing jail time for child supprt, PSS the grandmother dec Sincerely, MelissaNew York; Legal advice lawyer attorney Child Custody; kidnapped ? What to do?
Gotta use the 14th amendment for it and go after due process. Father has a right to counsel, right to be notified and such, in termination of paternity proceedings. Making plans to go away is not abandonment. If he was paying child support or sending money (and can prove it), then it is not abandonment. If the child was still under his insurance, it is not abandonment.

This may fall under the guidelines for kidnapping by deceit but you will not be able to get it into court. The government doesn't want to let that cat out of the bag.

This is a pretty common problem when leaving kids at a relatives house for long periods of time. I'm not a lawyer but I know enough to say he may have a long fight ahead of him.

P.S. It's not fair but it is the way the law is structured. If you ever have to leave your kids like that, make sure there is documentation or receipts or something to prove it is temporary and that you are providing for your child.

    NEW look. YOUR advice? HELP!?

Alright, it's summer! WOOH! Hey, I'm excited! I want to mix up my look and don't really know how.

I have dark brown hair with natural red highlights. A peaches and cream complexion with few blemishes and few freckles across my nose and cheeks. My hair is about shoulder length with layers towards the bottom and side bangs that hang to about my nose.

I WANT SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOR NEXT YEAR!

I'm going to work out, wear Sun-In in my hair, moisturize more, and get a mani/ped.

Any suggestions? I'm open to anything. I want to be able to stick out without getting in trouble in my PRIVATE school.NEW look. YOUR advice? HELP!?
Ugh. I go to private school to. And it sucks. Lol do you have to wear the gay uniforms? Well all i can tell you is maybe get your eyebrows done, it can totally transform your face. If your school doesn't allow makeup, like mine, opt for a tinted moisturizer, and sneak I little make up like I've managed to do. Keep the freckles, their always cute. Have you ever thought of getting short hair?

hehe =]NEW look. YOUR advice? HELP!?
Don't use Sun-In, it really damages your hair and dries it out.

If you want a new look for your hair, you'd be better off coloring it for real and cutting it in a new style.

You could also try new make-up styles, get new clothes/shoes, getting tan, and yeah working out is greatt.

    Good luck. =]
DO NOT USE SUN IN!!!!! y cousin had the color hair u have and she used it and it turned orange. it was gross. DON'T DO IT!

sun in is meant for dirty blond hair to get blonder.

try new bangs and a nice tan

    New York Waterways Advice?

I'd appreciate guidance on using the New York Waterways ferry between Port Imperial on the Jersey side and W. 39th on the Manhattan side. I'd be coming from Staten Island on a weekday morning. My plan is to take the Bayonne Bridge and up to Port Imperial and the ferry terminal. Question: Is there enough parking so that I would find a spot around 9am? Also, are there any tricks to getting between the Bayonne Bridge and the ferry?

I've visited their website but would like guidance from someone who does this trip on a regular basis.

Any advice would be greatfully appreciated!New York Waterways Advice?
Why on earth would you drive all the way up to Port Imperial, go to liberty state park and take the ferry from there, it's closer and there is parking.New York Waterways Advice?
There will be slow due to South Entrance to Port Imperial/Weekhaven Parking will be closed for long term construction. According to google map, New Jersey Turnpike becomes heavily congested.

Rather than drive, taking NYC bus to Bayonne and Hudson-Bergen Lightrail is way to go!

Your best option will be to take BRAND NEW RIDE on New York City Transit's rush hour S89 LIMITED BUS $2(coins or MetroCard) WHICH GOES along Richmond %26amp; Marsh Avs, then goes across Bayonne Bridge to 34th St HBLR Station.

Once at Hudson-Bergen Lightrail Station, purchase one way ticket which cost only $1.90 and must be validaded even if train comes.

If ticket is not validaded, you'll get fine of $100 or get kick off the train.

Take Hoboken-bound train to 22nd St Station where you could transfer to ferry to Pier 79 (West 38th St) which cost $5 one way.

From Pier 79, get on any free ferry shuttle bus. Ferry shuttle bus operates various route during off-peak and peak hour.

See the ferry shuttle bus info at NYWY website.

From Pt. Imperial ferry cost $10 one way!!

    Port Imperial-Pier 79 runs every 30 minutes from 6:15am to 7:15pm.

    New Teacher Needs Advice............?

This will be my second year teaching Kindergarten and I have a question. A few times last year, I had parents approaching other students in my class and discussing issues between their child and the other kid. For example, I had a parent who confronted one student because they apparently hit their child. I was not made aware of the incident and I'm thinking it happened in the lunchroom (when I was on my lunch break)

Anyway, how can I defuse situations like this and what's the best way to approach a parent who has decided to reprimand another student in my classroom. What's the best thing to say with under minding them. We all know how heated some parents get, but I can't have parents yelling or talking to other students like that.

Any advice. New Teacher Needs Advice............?
Yeppers, parents are special people. Reprimanding another student in your class is grossly unacceptable. If this was done in front of you, I hope you addressed it directly with the parents. It would be far better if parents learned to demonstrate good non-intimidating problem solving skills for their children.

I would start this year with a nice newsletter and include a small piece that if parents have social issues that need to be addressed, they need to address them with you directly because all of the children involved need to know what to do. (For instance, in this case the victim needed to tell a responsible adult during lunch or you after lunch!)

I would then reiterate that same thing in a nice way during your back to school night because you place so much value on the development of social skills.

I would talk to some of your colleagues on this issue as well. You are always going to have parents like this and believe me, I understand their anger (I'm a mom too), but they need to learn that they can't be there with their child every minute and their child needs to learn what to do to help him/herself.

Good luck to you!New Teacher Needs Advice............?
well I am a second grade teacher and my kids hit and play all the time I try and stop this by bringing them out into the hallway and talking to them I do understand that you teach kindergarten if you notice in the name kindergarten it has the word kinder. Try your best by trying to talk to them if that does not work then set up a naughty chair and they can sit in that for 5 minutes and rethink everything. I f this does not work then please feel free to e-mail me @ lelothebest42286@yahoo.com

    Good Luck,

    Haley Camp
you are the teacher, so you have the right to go up to them and ask the parent what it is that he or she wants with that child. just ask them what is going on and help them to solve the problem. and if it is a hitting problem, well kids will be kids, they are only in kindergarten.
I would definitely publish your guidelines for students and parents and ask that both the child and the parents sign it. Make it clear that this will be a new experience for the child as it will be their first real social occasion and that it is inevetible that conflicts may arise between students.

Point out that it is important that parents notify you, the teacher, so that you can take corrective actions and to prevent any further conflicts. Also, mention that the school has a zero tolerance violence policy.

Finally, don't be hesitant to flatly state in the policy that at no time should a parent confront a student that is not their child. In the event that you observe a parent violating that policy, escort the child away from the scene, politely ask the offending parent if you might have a word with them. Take them to a corner of the classroom or in the hallway and reiterate the policy to them and then immediately ask them what the problem is and how can you help.

In the worse case, if the parent at anytime starts to get nastly or violent, you have the right to ask them to leave the school and if they refuse the right to call school security or the local police.
Ooh. I just bought a book called, How to Handle Difficult Parents by Tingley. I WISH I had this book my first few years of teaching. Check it out because it can help with this parent and others that you will eventually encounter.

So, I don't know if this will help but prior to the year starting, I have all parent volunteers - that is everyone that comes into contact through volunteering into my classroom go through a volunteer orientation. We talk alot about confidentiality (can't tell another parent about the horrendous behavior they see in class or gossip about how so and so didnt' do their homework). We also talk about positive interaction and discipline.

You have to understand that parents are super protective and will react if seeing that. I know I probably would but I would pull that parent aside and talk about the incident. Let them explain. Then say, gosh I wish you would have gotten me because I could have dealt with it. I would hate to get you into trouble. Then reference a fake scenario say...';I had a parent get really upset at another parent who did this and brought it all the way to the principal... I would hate for that to happen to you...'; It's all in your tone too. You may have to practice not to sound condescending.

Go for core i7. although the clock is lower, it IS much faster. Also, the coolermaster cm 690 is the best case in the sub $100 category. i have built dozens of computers with it. it is great. Don't get me wrong, if you don't want to dish out another 80 bucks for an i7 motherboard, then that is a great build
Looks to me you already know it's a ';good'; build. You're just here to show off. ;p

Don't waste time. Get the full 8GB of RAM. There won't be a game on the market you can't play on high settings with no lag whatsoever. (It's what I'm running now. Forget that 4GB junk.)
i would get a single very powerful Graphic card instead of SLI.cause all i hear SLI is a hype.and sometimes games stutters on SLI setup.and waste a lot more energy.maybe a single Geforce 285 or 295 will give much smoother experience in gaming.that's all i can say otherwise fine build P
almost everything's good except for vid card, just get 2 GTX 260 core 216 instead, a bit more money but the performance should double(stream processor amount)
Your computer looks ready for some high end gaming.

Since you are using Vista 64-bit, you should add more ram to your com (making it 8 gb of ram would be great!)

NEW BOYFRIEND. Any advice going??? Guys AND girls please (:?

Hi, please dont be insulting or offensive or sarcastic or anything, I just want to know if everything is normal.

Im 17 and Ive been going out with my first ever boyfriend for 2 and a half months now. Hes my age. Firstly, Ive always wanted one of those relationships where you like know everything about each other down to the last little details and where you are comfortable around one another, each others family, can freely go round each others houses without ringing up in advance, and all that type of thing. We get on really well and stuff, but I wouldnt say we are exactly like that. And also its his birthday soon, but I havent got a clue what to get him as in something that he would genuinely like thats whats to do with what he likes. Would you say its because we havent been together all that long? My friend has been with her boyfriend for 6 months and they know each other inside out. Will it just take time, or will it never happen for me and my boyfriend?

Also, I really like him, like really really like him, ( I would say love but I would probably get a oad of grief as in 'im too young, it has only been a few months, but just so you get the idea that im not merely with him for the sake of having a boyfriend) but i still look at other guys and wonder what it would be like if I was with them. Is this wrong of me? I dont have feelings for them, i just think what it would be like.

His best friend always tells me he doubts we will last and gives me loads of grief, but then he hasnt ever had a girlfriend before.

Am I a bad girlfriend? Please help me. Im not sure what Im asking, im just looking for a little reassurance on the dating game. Any advice, previous experience, or anything nice would be appreciated :)

Thankyou (:NEW BOYFRIEND. Any advice going??? Guys AND girls please (:?
Nah of course you're not a bad girlfriend! (By the way I'm 15 and have never had a boyfriend so you're taking advice from someone who is a bit clueless to be honest). It sounds like you just haven't known each other a long time so you won't know EVERYTHING just yet but thats not a bad thing. Don't worry, as time goes on your knowledge of each other will grow.

His bestfriend sounds like an asshole, ignore him.

XNEW BOYFRIEND. Any advice going??? Guys AND girls please (:?
Ok I am not 17, add 30 odd years.

Firstly, don't listen to his mate or anyone elses, if it only lasts a couple of months, years etc so be it, take your time now and savour it, don't be worrying about the future, let that sort itself out.

Secondly, no you are not a bad girlfriend for checking out other guys. My fiancee does it all the time and I do it with other women, but we never do anything about it. Anyone who says they only have eyes for one person and means it in a literal sense is lying.

As for birthday presents, I have been with my Fiancee for 3 years and still never know what to get her for any occasion, hell, I dont even actually know how old she is!!! bout 35 I think LOL.

Just chill out and enjoy what you have now. Sure you will make mistakes but then show me someone who has never made a mistake and I will show you someone who has made nothing.

Hope it all works out, but most of all, enjoy yourself and have fun together. Make sure you both laugh alot.
Don't worry so much, its your first relationship and if you worry it might go wrong. just relax and enjoy being with him. if you've only been dating 2 and a half months you have lots of time to get to know each other, go for walks and talk about things. and most important make sure that he can feel comfortable around you too.

Yes 8800gt is a super good card and no do not upgrade to quad core because some applications do not yet support quad core. So for now use dual core but in the future think about running quad core.New gaming rig advice plz?
Is that stuff you already have or planning to buy?

Yes 8800gt is a good gaming card.

If you already have an e8400 then it is definitely NOT worth the upgrade to q6600. If you don't have anything yet, you could get a q6600 for almost the same or even cheaper than an e8400 at some places.

New mom, Need advice of breast feeding please!?

Hello ladies well my baby is 5 days old and I really wanted to breast feed, but I have no milk yet! Shes lost weight and almost had to enter the hospital again. I was still supplementing formula and I didnt know I had to feed her more than the hospital advised me. Im a first time mom and I feel like crap! I feel like my baby was hungry and I didnt even know it. I feel so so so bad. Im feeding her a lot more now and she seems to be putting on more weight. Im pumping 4 times a day and still trying to have her latch on. Sometimes it works sometimes it dosent. I was just wondering if anyone has any tips for a new time mom to get the milk flowing. Thank you.New mom, Need advice of breast feeding please!?
Hot water will help milk flow better. Avoid the cold and ice cold water and ice cream. After the beginning of every breast milk and then dip to pump milk out to stimulate the body to produce milk again. (Breast Pump @http://astore.amazon.com/vacuum-breast-p鈥?/a>New mom, Need advice of breast feeding please!?
It is normal to have no milk yet. The milk usually comes in, in a first time mother, at around 5 days.

It's also normal for babies to lose weight at first.

There should never be a reason to give a bottle to a 5 day old baby. (If you must supplment, as is VERY rarely necessary, there are better ways.)

It sounds like you got some really poor advice, and are, therefore, are causing the very problem you are asking about.

Giving frequent bottles causes nipple confusion, and keeps your baby from being able to latch on.

And 4 pumping sessions a day is nowhere NEAR enough to establish a milk supply.

Ideally you need to just throw the bottles away and nurse your baby. Put her to the breast about every 2 hours (or more if she'll take it) and focus on getting a good latch. If she wont' latch, pump after every attempt (yes, that's every 2 hours -- 12 pumping sessions a day), and you can give the pumped milk (and small amounts of formula IF necessary) by tube or cup or finger feeding.

If she doesn't latch on after a few attempts, you'll want to call a lactation consultant for help. She can work with you and baby to help her latch, and she can show you how to tube cup or finger feed, or use a nursing supplementer.

EDIT: The poster above me suggested a 3 hour 'routine.' That's not enough for a newborn. That's only 8 feeds a day. She probably needs 10-12. (Every two hours, with maybe a longer stretch (3-4 hours) at night.)

Also, messing with oatmeal and fenugreek at this point isn't necessary. There's no reason to think there is ANYTHING wrong with your supply beyond insufficient stimulation and poor latch.
I agree with most everything everyone else has already said.

All I have to add: Stop pumping, it isn't recommended to pump for a few weeks yet. Keep your baby skin to skin, ideally you guys just cuddle up for a few days and let her suckle everytime she wants to. Minimum, offer her the breast every two hours.

My milk came in around five days, don't stress just yet. My baby is now five months old and thriving, we never supplemented.
stop the formula!!!!! the more formula you give her, the less you'll produce because that's food she's not demanding from you. the formula also bogs her system down making her think she's not as hungry as she really is.

flush the formula and once she realizes boobie is the only option, she'll latch on much more readily. babies aren't dumb - if it's a choice between ';free food'; (the bottle, which requires little to no effort) and working for food (breastfeeding often has them breaking a sweat because it's a total-body workout), they'll go for the bottle.

get yourself a lactation consultant and also visit http://www.drjacknewman.com for help - he's THE go-to guy for breastfeeding. he responds to emails pretty quickly when it's a situation like yours.

until that all pans out, put your baby to the boob every half-hour and you might also want to manually stimulate your nipples. instead of pumping, go with manual expression - it's more effective and, unlike pumping, stimulates production. also, every couple hours, use your hands to simulate a baby nursing - use a good degree of pressure, don't just tickle them. get it right, and you'll feel a let-down reflex, almost like someone whacked you with a ping-pong paddle, and that's when you know your milk production is ramping up.

you're not trying to schedule your baby, are you? breastfeeding and schedules are mutually incompatible. you have to bf your baby when she demands it - even if the last feeding was only a half-hour before - and for as long as she wants it (my two longest ';cluster feeds'; lasted 8hrs and 13hrs during saari's earliest growth spurts).

do NOT give up - your baby won't starve to death without the formula.
we have 5 kids and each of them breast fed.

keep trying, on a regular basis, skin on skin is good, fenugreek is also good.

a little formula is ok, but the baby will get spoiled when he realizes that he has to work to get the milk to come in - afterall it's easier to have a bottle feed you as opposed to the child having to work to get the hind milk.

Then again, not every mom is capable to breast feeding.

I would consult the advise from a doctor and / or a nurse, or a child specialist - not yahoo.
    Pippin gave excellent advice.

It's normal for your milk to not be in yet, and it's normal for your baby to lose weight for the first week. They usually don't get back up to their birth weight until they're about 2 weeks old.
www.kellymom.com is also a great resource.
    Here are my suggestions:

-Feed baby on a fairly regular 3 hour routine so you know she's hungry.

-Work at keeping her awake to take a full feeding.

    -Drink TONS

-Eat oatmeal (there's something in the gruel that forms when you cook it that helps with milk supply)

-Try fenugreek supplements to boost supply too.

-Get as much rest as you can.

    Well heres the deal . . .

My baby is 3mo. and 3weeks old and I noticed that she has these little bumps on her upper back and it also red around them.

Here are some things that may be the problem:

    1. My sister said that it may be a heat rash and it will go away, but its been there even when its not hot.

    2. My mom says that it could be because of the clothes that she is wearing, the tags may be irritating her.

    3. I think what if it is some type of allergic reaction to something that I dont know of.

Any one ever seen this on their baby? Or what else do you think it is?

In the one pic it looks like a heat rash, but the other ones are hard to tell. They can get a heat rash even when it doesn't seem hot to you, especially if they are in pyjamas. Try keeping her just in a diaper if you can and see if the rash goes away. It might just be sensitive skin and I would switch to the Aveeno Baby line of products. Rather expensive but I had to switch with my son (now 5 mos). You should have a 4 month checkup with your pediatrician coming up - so definitely address it then. Good luck and congrats on the new one!New Mom needs advice! (pics included)?
my daughter had the exact same thing and it eczema i have mild eczema and our newborn shows skin irritation- early sign of eczema usually shows up only after a short period of time sometimes longer it is hereditary do you or your husband have it and it is possible for her to have it and not you or anyone else you should see your pediatrician
she might have dry or sensitive skin. its best to ask your doctor. my son has little bumps and his skin is red on his belly. the doctor said he has sensitive and dry skin and to try some lotion. the pics kind of look like what my baby's skin looks like. they are kind of blurry though.
The doctor would probably be more qualified to answer this question. We'd all just be guessing and you don't want to take the chance that someone may guess wrong. Please go to the doctor to get a qualified diagnosis.
It looks like dry skin. I would take her to the Dr. to confirm just to make sure. Eucerine lotion is great for dry skin. Check with your Dr. before you use it on her though...she's still very little.

    Good luck!!
you need to take her to the doctor immediateley. dont try to figure it out on your own.
Wow your baby has lots of hair! Thats all I can say!Just remember babies skin is very sensitive...shes okay!
It could be detergent or the tags or heat rash. It could also be that when she is drinking, the milk is dripping out the corner of her mouth and around her neck to make her clothes damp, causing irritation. A friend of mine had a problem like that with her daughter and couldn't figure it out for a little but finally realized that was the problem. Try washing it well and coating it with a little vaseline. When my son used to wear pull ups, tried many brands and almost all of them gave him rashes like that and the vaseline always worked.
my baby got some like this and I rubbed a little hydrocortisone cream 1% on it and about 6 hours later there was just a little left.... you can apply that up to 3X a day.... as to what it is from, I really cant tell you, I think my baby got it from a little spit up that she layed in for up to 3 hours (while we were all asleep.)....

good luck, and I have to say.... your baby has such beautiful long hair for 3 months!!! my baby is 2 months and had an inch of hair when she was born but it hasnt grown since ....
Doesnt look to bad..at first I was thinking eczema, my son had that..but it really doesnt look much like that..he had red bumps but it was also really red around the bumps and in some spots was like a raw looking color...It could be a reaction to your laundry soap..are you using baby soap? It could also be the bath soap...try switching both and see if it subsides at all..and it could also be heat rash..newborns get rashes from everything! lol I would make a trip to the doctor just to be sure..but it doesnt look serious.

    Good luck

added note: if it turns out eczema, make sure you get a presciption for it..my doctor told me to use over the counter creams on my sons for 3 months and it was terrible..he was suffering! My neighbors son had it also and she gave me the names of some creams..I called the doctor and demanded them..sure enough..i put it on him and in 10 mins @@ there was improvment..I will give you the names of those creams if it turns out to be eczema..but honestly, to me it doesnt look like that
my 4 kids had the exact same thing and it was eczema i have eczema and soap can cause it to flare up and so can some lotions try useing only nonscented soaps and lotion and washing powder. the doctor wont give you anything for it until she turns 2 thats when mine got it however you could use aveeno baby products they work great on my kids. try not to let pepole hold the baby who have prefumes on and a lot of make all of this can cause it to flare up. and you never know it could just be heat rash. hope this helps
How long has she had it? It may be detergent or something like that. My daughter had red on her neck because I used a different detergent and she would scratch at it. Try a free and clear laundry detergent and no fabric softener at all. Good luck. Other than that I would make an appointment with the dr if you are worried.

    New Mom Needs Advice?

I'm lost...in life... I have an 8 mo yr old son %26amp; we live w/ my Mom. My Mom is his legal guardian but I take care of him. (long story) I was starting to tell someone bout some of my probs but she just told me to start to make a better future for my son %26amp; I. I didn't even know what she meant by that! :$ :s ...til I mentioned something that I might be interested in doing for a job (I'm a SAHM) %26amp; she said that was a start... Other than figuring out what I wanna do re: college/a career... What else do you think that I should be thinking bout ? I haven't made a bank acc't for him yet... I still need to apply for his SIN so that he can have an RESP. Bout RESPs... I have no idea which way to go bout that either... :( I take care of him 24/7 %26amp; have a lil bit of $ in the bank to buy him stuff... His dad told me last night that he was gonna buy him a car when he turns 16. I feel so young....act so young... even LOOK so young ! :( :( How can I plan our future ?New Mom Needs Advice?
I would guess that by ';better future'; the person meant doing things that will mean 5-10 years from now you will not be in the same situation, but independently raising your son, with your own home, job, etc, and even saving money for your/his future. To me that means, finishing school, going to college and getting a Bachelor's Degree, and learning about money/finances.

I remember reading a lot when my daughter was first born. Books about parenting, budgeting, cooking, finances, relationships, resumes/careers, child development, grants and scholarships for college, you name it I read about it. It helped me feel more in control of my life, because I knew I was educating myself and helping myself be able to be the parent I wanted to be.

If your mom is helping you right now I suggest you take that gift and make good use of it. Get educated about what you don't know - either on the internet, at the library, or at a school. Make a list of things/topics that make you feel like you're ';lost';. Pick one thing off that list, and go learn something about it.

With some effort and a little bit of time you will feel more confident and able to make decisions about school and jobs and all of that, which will help you put money in that bank account you're going to set up for your child. Good luck!New Mom Needs Advice?
Why don't you turn to your mom for advice on this subject. You obviously trust her with being legal guardian. Don't be afraid to go to your family for advice. You could also talk to a banker or some kind of investor for financial information.

I know I didn't help the way you wanted me to. You are smart for seeking more help with your matter. Good luck to you.
turn ur life over to god 4 one thing and tell the dad u need more money now not 15 and 1/2 years down the road seems like hes putting the load on u till the son is old enough to stand on own feet u need guildance only 1 sorce can give u the best answer he makes house(heart)calls 24/7 u will find ur way never give up ppl who give up never even tried
For my son we put money in his bank account every week. Even if it is just a few dollars. It will add up by the time he's 18. You need to figure out what you want to do in life. What kind of career intrests you?

New Quail Keeper - Advice Needed Please?!?

Hi everyone, I've been thinking about getting quail for quite a while now and finally took the plunge on Saturday! I've got 3 CPQs (2 are hens and 1 is possibly a cock but we're not quite sure yet!), approx 3 months old.

They live in a converted rabbit hutch outside, it has a bedroom area above (the penthouse!) and large run below. I've put perspex around the run to stop the cats/chickens catching them through the bars, it also gives them a bit more protection from the elements.

Although we initially released them into the bedroom area they ran straight down to the run and haven't been back up since! I'm a bit worried cos it's so cold and they don't even bed down in the straw, they just sit there! I've tried putting a torch in the bedroom area to see if the light will attract them but it hasn't worked. I also put their food up there but they just went hungry! Today I sprinkled treats up the ladder to try and tempt them up but that didn't work either. Will they eventually work it out for themselves or should I try and catch them and put them up there again??

Although I read up on them before getting them and talked to other quail owners, I can't believe how skittish and daft they really are - can they really be tamed??

Sorry for such a long posting, I'm just panicking a bit cos I wanted them to be all nice and cosy in their new home, and not sat there wishing they were back in the pet shop!New Quail Keeper - Advice Needed Please?!?
    Hi Fraser,

Welcome to the world of quail you are going to love Chinese painteds are so cute, i have three. I also have a bout 20 Japanese Quail they are great. The Main rules to follow are these and you will have happy quail.

1.Keep them warm out of drafts

    2. Keep them dry dont let them get wet or damp

    3. Always supply fresh water

    4. lots of little hiding places for them.

    5. A varied healthy diet

Quail are notorious for laying an egg and leaving it, they very rarely sit their eggs. I have had many clutches hatched by the hen i have lots of area's where they can hide but i can still observe they always have fresh water. Food must always be plentiful never scarce.

Provide cress in the soil for them to pick at they love it. Steamed vegetables such has

    Brocolli

    Cabbage

    Sprouts

    Cauliflower

    Carrots etc

still warm, a favourite just steam all the peelings that you normally compost or bin, very in expensive.

I also feed them chick feed and budgie seed but they eat a lot of veg.

Also Quail love mealworm and it is a way of getting them to take from your hand i always feed the mealworm to the small quail after they have been chilled in the fridge. This slows the meal worm down and the little birds gobble them up this way with a lot less trouble.

If it get's severly cold outside bring your little birds in if you can.

They will eventually come out side but that will not be until they are more settled and the weather has warmed up it is still very cold for quail at the moment.

Have fun with them they are great pets

Good luck xxNew Quail Keeper - Advice Needed Please?!?
My japanese quail stay at ground level all the time- i put in a nesting house in my quail pen and they go in at night. Try getting a ground nesting area.
put them in the bed area and keep them in there with food and water for 2-3 days then let them out , they should then use the bed area at night. good luck
Try moving the ';bedroom'; to ground level They wont go in , they tend to bed down under brush %26amp; bushes. I kept mine(when I had them) indoors in a 6ft long by 2 ft X 2 ft flight cage with some finches. all around the bottom I placed parts of an ols artificial Xmas tree %26amp; the went to nest, I didnt count on the babies getting out of the 1/2 X 1'; mesh though. I fed them mealworms aling w/leafy greens finch mix %26amp; oystershell grit.
What kind are these, are they Chinese Painted Button Quail or Coturnix ? You can sex either by 6 weeks some before then, both should be laying by now.If they're Button Quail they need to be kept inside room temperature about 60 degrees. Coturnix Quail can be kept outside , ours have shelter they can get out of the weather if they want to but they rather stay out in the open even if its raining and temperature in the 20's.We've been raising quail for 6 years and never lost any do to the weather , we keep the younger ones in cages the barn , the older ones outside in pens, all have shelter to get out of the weather if they want to.Most quails will not use a ladder or perch , they rather stay huddle up together on the ground , our Bobwhites will fly up on the perches and a few Coturnix but most prefer the ground. Most quail cannot be tamed especially that old , we incubate our own eggs and the chicks are really skittish, they'll run to a corner of the cage everytime we change their water and feed , the older ones are just the same they'll go to the back of the cage or the ones in pens wiil scatter. As for as pets about the only ones i know you can tame are the Chinese Painted Button Quail. We raise and sell them and people keep them in their houses, in aquariums and bird cages. If you pay attention to them and work with them you can make them out to be pets. All Quails can be fed fruits and vegetables , just have to try different kinds to see what they like. If you tell me what kind you have i may be able to tell you if they're males or females We have about 5 different types of Coturnix had 10 but some were'nt selling that good so we downsized, 6 different types of Bobwhites and Chinese Painted Buttton Quail.
    quails are birds

Advice for a new lax golie?

    i need pointers in general

anything you can say lend any and all information that you can think of for a new high school lax golie

thanksAdvice for a new lax golie?
-step to the ball whenever a shot is fired

-don't be scared to take body shots

-on groundballs make sure that you are in front of the shot because you have a much better chance of getting the bounce

-when clearing, walk it out of the crease, one of the attack are going to stray off of their defenseman to try and steal it and as soon as they do, pass it to your open d-man

-be loud and make sure your team knows where the balls is at all times (up top, top left, top right, bottom right, bottom left, x, ground ball, clear, pick, screen, etc.)

-if an attack is hugging your crease, make sure he knows that it's your property and you don't like visitors, lay him out as soon as he gets the ball

-Nobody can touch you in the crease but you only have 4 seconds in there with the ball so be quick

-work on your reflexes, and vision, these shots are going to come out of nowhere so it's fine if you miss a few

-don't ever lock your knees or drop your guard

    -move with the ball

-have funAdvice for a new lax golie?
haha dont write this under hockey

    write it under general sports

kk i play attack, but i wittness goalies doing there tihng all the time

    STAY ON YOUR TOES

    its easier to move,

dont try to be a hockey goalie in lacrosse, i know it sounds stupid but my friend megan tries to get on her knees

    REALLY WORK ON YOUR CLEARING

serioues, i was in the attack zone and the goalie was clearning the ball but it fell out before she could get it anwhere....she had just started.

Weight Lifting Advice, I Need A New Routine...Any Suggestions?

Alright, so....I want a new effective workout routine.

    I'm 15, 5 foot 8, 152 pounds.

I guess the goal for me lifting weights is to get leaner and stronger..

    I need an intense workout.

I'm not lazy at all, I can work out 4 or more days a week.

I want to run whenever I work out (2 or 3 miles or so..)

I want to do the following muscles: Chest, Shoulders, Triceps, Biceps, Legs, Abs, Back, Etc (All the main muscles)

I'M NOT ASKING FOR SPECIFIC EXERCISES, I just want to know what to do on what day and how many exercises

Example of what I'm looking for:

    Day 1

Chest (4 Exercises), Shoulders (4 exercises), Run on treadmill

    Day 2

Biceps (2 Exercises), Back (3 Exercises), Legs (3 Exercises), Run on treadmill

    Day 3

    Rest

...So yeah, put it in that format. I know a bunch of exercises so don't bother telling me any. Oh, and also, if you could state why you like this workout.Weight Lifting Advice, I Need A New Routine...Any Suggestions?
    i'm 32...6 foot tall...and 180

got a six pack and am mix of lean and muscular

this set up has worked for me for over 10 years, so i give you the pointers on it...the key really is to try to constantly alternate...like every 3 to 6 months change the type of muscles you work together or individually

like for 3 months do push and pull excercises...

    day 1:

chest 4 execises overall 11 sets

and back 4 exercises overall 11 sets

    day 2:

    45 minutes cardio and abs

    day 3:

biceps 4 exercises and triceps 4 exercises

    day 4: rest

    day5:

shoulders 4 exercises and legs 4 exercises overall 13 sets

    day 6:

    cardio and abs

    day7:

calves 2 exercises, and abs, and cardio and lowerback 2 execises overall 4 sets

    day8: rest

Then after 3 months switch it up to

    Day 1:

chest 4 exercises 11 sets overall

    and abs

    Day2:

back 4 exercises cardio 35 minutes

    Day3

    biceps 4 exercises

and calves 2 exercises 4 sets

    cardio 20 minutes

    Day 4

    rest

    Day 5

    shoulders 4 exercises

    triceps 4 exercises

    Day6

legs 4 exercises 13 sets overall

    cardio 30 minutes

    Day 7

abs and lowerback 2 exercises 4 sets

    45 minutes cardio

    Day 8: rest

ite nick, nick g ur not greek r ya?, anyways just pump until maxximum rep trust me ive just givien you golend advice - woooooo dude! lol if i had that advice back in the day i would be huuuuge!!!!!! xx
I like a more simple approach, every other day. Work all groups, pick 10 or so and do the same 10 every workout, but the intensity or focus changes. The goal is first workout heavier weights, less reps, the next workout more reps, may have to reduce weight slightly, and then even less weight and more reps. then it cycls again, heavier weights than original workout and by the time you get to the end of the cycle you have cycled to the very first heavy weight on the most reps cycle. I ran on my off days and did other cardio in my workout. Example

Work out 1: Heaviest weight you can get 3 sets of 6 reps out. do an excericse for each of the areas you listed. I did Lat pulls, lunges, bench press, squats, calf lifts, ext. Plus a cardio that involved jumping (jump rope, or jumping over a workout bench - did these in 3 sets too.

Work out 2: same exact excerises, but heaviest weight I could get 3 sets of 9 reps out, plus the cardio jumping excercise.

work out 3 - same excercieses, but heaviest weight i could get 3 sets of 12 reps.

work out 4 - repeat cycle, heaviest weights on 3 sets of 6, hopefully increasing to new weight limits.

So, day 1 - workout routine, day 2 run, day 3 workout routine, day 4 run, day 5 workout routine, day 6 run and day 7 rest.

I created a chart and marked the weight i did, so i could gage where i was. I did plataue after a while and the cyles took longer - and not all excercies changed at the same rates. sometimes my max weight at 6 reps stayed level for several weeks.

This was very very effective for me and I never worked out more than an hour at a time.
