You need to install full version software of All-in-One in the computer.
If you have not installed, here is the link to download the software:

%26gt; Click on download only button and save the file to the destkop %26gt; After successfully saving the file to the desktop, double click on the file to start installation.
NOTE: Keep the USB cable unplugged from the computer during installation and connect only when software prompt you to connect.
%26gt;After installing the software you can scan in word.
%26gt; If you are unable to scan %26gt; Open HP solution center %26gt; Click on settings %26gt; Scan settings and preferences %26gt; scan to setup and add the word application in the scan to destination list.I recently bought a new hp computer with vista. That is part of the HP software for the all-in-one. You need to go to the HP site and download the current software for your printer and load it. One of the toolbox controls of the HP software is scan control.
That's right, if you have a HP all-in-one that that installed from the Vista drivers and not the HP software then the OCR software has not been installed.
Try the free OCR package from http://www.simpleocr.com/ to give you that function back.
i dont think there is a solution, this printer is pretty old and HP wont create a new driver for Vista (according to the interwebs)
