As a new Christian, what advice do you have for me?

I'm a new Christian, not even a week old in the Lord yet. I am finding it hard to not sin. Im a senior in HS and my school makes it TOUGH to stay a Christian. There are so many things that I used to do and is 2nd nature to me. Everyday I go to school, I promise God and ask Him to help me that I wont do what I used to do anymore (like gossip, say perverted things etc..) but everyday I falter. So 2 questions

1) Everytime I sin, do I have to re-repent or just ask God for forgiveness? How long do I ask for forgiveness until God grows weary and doesn't forgive me anymore? It scares me to think about that.

and 2) I need some godly advice, what can I do to resist all the temptations and pitfalls school provides?

Please no rude or atheistic answers, thank you.As a new Christian, what advice do you have for me?
Keep asking God for forgiveness, and keep turning from sin. God will NEVER get tired of forgiving you. His mercy has no limit. However, you must be making a true effort to avoid sin. ';Repent'; not only means asking for forgiveness, but also making the effort to avoid that sin in your future. Of course, we are not perfect. God knows this. Salvation is a gift, and it is NOT something we have to ';earn'; by being good. But as you follow Jesus, he will transform your heart, and you will desire sinful things less and less.

I would advise you to get involved with a church youth group, if you're not already. Of course, find one with a good and Godly pastor. A good pastor will help you learn to follow Christ, and you can meet other young Christians there as well who are going through the same struggles as you!

I also recommend reading the Bible and praying daily (of course!), and maybe even reading a book designed for new Christians. I'll give you some links, please check them out!! God bless, I'll pray for you!! :)As a new Christian, what advice do you have for me?
Read Philippians 4;6-7.

You are now concerned of your actions which is the Holy Spirit convicting you. This is good. Just because you are a believer does not mean you are now perfect or ever will be. So be you and let God do the rest. The biggest help you can get is to stay in the word of God.

Remember that Christ died not only to free us from the law and death, but also the legalism of religion.
1) When you believe in Jesus alone for salvation, then you are forgiven ALL SINS past, present, and future. So when you believe, then you're ALREADY forgiven everything, even all future sins. So He won't ';grow weary'; of forgiving :) He's already forgiven, if you believe in Jesus alone for salvation.

2) Pray to Jesus and keep yourself close to Him, in prayer. :) And remember that all saved believers are still sinners.
1. You don't have to be worryed about God not forgiving you. Remember your going to heaven by salvation NOT by good works.

You don't need to re-pent evertime but it's good to.

2. Start doind a daily devortional weather that's listening to Christian music or just praying. Everyboy's realationship with Christ is diffrent. Nobody has the same realationship that you do with Jesus.
Just ask fro forgiveness, but try and go without sinning as much as possible. In this day in age it is very hard as we are getting further and further from God. I am pleased you are trying to go in the right direction though.

God Bless
keep faith, don't let the world lead you astray and stay in the word of God.
Don't dress like a slut.
just keep the Faith
seek stronger christians and friends like them...... good luck, i'm one as well
1 John 1:5-10 especially verse seven and ten. Yes we must confess our sin but God is ready and willing to forgive. There is no limit. Peter asked Jesus a question on this same topic in Matthew 18:21. Should he forgive his brother up to seven times? This was the established rule under the Old Covenant. Jesus said the number was indefinite, (v. 22) and thus established the rule under the New Covenant. God will always forgive as we repent and confess our sins. Look also at Acts 8:12, 13, 18, 22 Simon also obeyed, but then sinned and was told to repent and pray for forgiveness. As to your second question, we all build new habits through repetition. keep at it.
First, congrats on being a Christian! You will soon learn it's the BEST decision you will ever make in your lifetime! Remember, as human beings we will always sin. Just because you are a Christian doesn't make you perfect. It just means that you have acknowledged that you are a sinner, that Christ died and rose for your sins, and that are now forgiven.

Yes, you should pray and ask for forgiveness when you sin, and God will never grow weary of you. He loves you unconditionally whether you sin or not.

Resisting temptation is hard. Find people who are like minded. I grew up hanging out w/the youth group at church, so that helped me have a solid foundation and stay away from bad things. Also, remember it's a process. The Holy Spirit will reveal your sins, not to condemn you, but to allow you to become free of the strongholds of Satan. In time you will slowly see your priority change to those things that are pleasing to God. The other stuff won't be so appealing.
I got saved early in my Senior year as well. Praise God 4 your salvation! I struggled with the same issues. The devil's primary goal is to keep us away from Christ鈥攂ut if we do give our lives to Him, the devil will still try to fill us with doubt and fear. And one of his oldest tricks is to get us to doubt our salvation.

The Bible is clear: Once we truly give our lives to Jesus Christ and trust Him alone for our salvation, God cleanses us from all our sins and makes us members of His family forever. The Bible says, ';The blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin'; (1 John 1:7). If we lost our salvation every time we sinned, then we'd lose our salvation every day鈥攂ecause we sin every day. We may not even be aware of our sins, but an impure thought or an unkind word is sin in God's eyes.

The key is to remember this: Your salvation does not depend on you, but on Christ. If it depended on you, you could never be saved, because you are never good enough. But your salvation depends solely on Christ and what He did for you on the cross. Why not pause right now and thank Him for being willing to die for you? God loves you that much!

Sin is still serious, however; when we sin, we hurt our fellowship with God. But we are still His children if we know Christ, and nothing ';will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord'; (Romans 8:39).
Sin is going to be a part of your life my friend, and be fortunate that grace and mercy is there as you go through your spiritual transformation that comes as you take your walk with the Lord. You will sin, and you will not always make the right choice in the beginning. Do not be discouraged. Stay in the church that you attend and seek out the Lord in all ways, by reading, listening and watching all things pertaining to the word. If you are serious, stay in the word and seek God in all that you do.

Being a young christian you will possibly be dragged into the den of sin. Your friends will entice you, and you will be wooed by the seemingly sweet sensation that sin purports itself to give. Do not get discouraged, seek him out in prayer and ask God to increase your faith and give you reason to obey his word.

Remember that we have a common enemy, and he has minions that live on this earth as well. Know that God is always on your side, and if you fall into a ditch and God doest reach down to get you out, he is teaching you a lesson that will stick with you for the rest of your life.

Stand fast young soldier, and in due time you will be enlisted into the Amry of GOD. Jesus is your strength, meaning the more that you become like him, the more his power will dwell upon you through his holy spirit.

God bless you. Stay on that path of righteousness. you wont regret it.
One of the most eventful of all the evening conferences at Amathus was the session having to do with the discussion of spiritual unity. James Zebedee had asked, ';Master, how shall we learn to see alike and thereby enjoy more harmony among ourselves?'; When Jesus heard this question, he was stirred within his spirit, so much so that he replied: ';James, James, when did I teach you that you should all see alike? I have come into the world to proclaim spiritual liberty to the end that mortals may be empowered to live individual lives of originality and freedom before God. I do not desire that social harmony and fraternal peace shall be purchased by the sacrifice of free personality and spiritual originality. What I require of you, my apostles, is spirit unity--and that you can experience in the joy of your united dedication to the wholehearted doing of the will of my Father in heaven. You do not have to see alike or feel alike or even think alike in order spiritually to be alike. Spiritual unity is derived from the consciousness that each of you is indwelt, and increasingly dominated, by the spirit gift of the heavenly Father. Your apostolic harmony must grow out of the fact that the spirit hope of each of you is identical in origin, nature, and destiny. Page 1591 - 6
Sinning is not automatically erased from a Christian's daily life on earth. Christians sin every day, and that is pretty much unavoidable. BUT, God is always ready to forgive us of our sins as long as we repent. He will never grow frustrated or annoyed. He has infinite love, mercy, grace, and patience. You can count on that. Fully resisting tempation is not something we Christians are capable of by ourselves. We need to ask God to help us in ths situation. You will find that it doesn't act as an invincible barrier, but it will make Satan's attempts at tripping you a lot more work for the devil. As a new Christian, you have much potential to grow in the Lord spiritually. Do not give up when facing trials. God will always be there to support you. Lastly, I would like to congratulate you on accepting our Lord's salvation. I am very, very happy for you and I hope that you will grow much in your spiritual life.
first of all congratulations on becoming a Christian. I am also a Christian, and yes it is very hard to stay away from sin, especially at our ages (i just graduated HS) something i do when tempted to sin is think about what god would think about the sin. we disappoint him every time we sin. God is always willing to forgive you. the only thing that you cannot be forgiven for is rejecting him, but you have accepted him as your lord and savior! it is hard for any Christian to stay with God and to stay a Christian. it will especially be hard for you as a new believer. when you are about to sin realize that you are hurting God, who loves you more than anything, and helping Satan. God bless and good luck. if you have any more questions about your faith please ask. remember that you make a lot of decisions in life, but the decision whether to be a Christian or not is the most important decision anyone can make, it decides many things in your life, but it also decides where you will spend eternity.
1. Don't be scared about anything. Once you ask God for forgiveness he forgives you and He forgets. And He will still love you no matter what you do.

2. Be pure. When you get tempted to do something there's a little voice in your head (and no it's not just your conscience anymore) that's saying it's wrong. Just listen to it and you'll do fine. God will tell you more things if you have a pure heart. Look up Ephesians 6:13-17. Put on the Full Armor of God! :D
Sister, I've been living the life of a Christian for many years and I can tell you that it takes TIME and PATIENCE (mostly God's) to become the person that resists sin. The Scriptures tell us that this process is gradual and not instantaneous; for most, it takes a lifetime. My advice to you as you begin to learn resisting sin in your life is:

1) READ YOUR BIBLE EVERY DAY. I cannot stress this enough. The Scriptures tell us that our minds are ';renewed'; and ';transformed'; as we are ';washed'; by the Lord's words (Romans 12:2, 2 Cor. 4:16, Col. 3:10, Eph. 5:26, etc.).

2) After you've read the Bible, MEDITATE UPON IT. David's Psalms show us again and again how he pondered God's words throughout the day. This kept his mind on the Lord and off of things that were ungodly.

3) Attend church at least once a week. Church attendence doesn't add to your salvation, but it *does* encourage and teach you.

4) PRAY EVERY DAY. Eventually, you will know the Lord so well that you will ';pray without ceasing'; (1 Thes. 5:17), which is just like having an on-going conversation with a friend! I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a relationship with the Lord. When you have this relationship, He will speak to you in various ways, leading you deeper and deeper into His will for your life. Prayer doesn't have to be formal; speak to Him as if He were standing next to you (because He is!) and as you would to a friend.

And if you are praying because you've sinned, just tell the Lord from your heart that you're sorry and MEAN IT. (That's the key.) He'll see your sincerity.

5) And finally, STUDY the Bible. This is very different than merely reading the Bible. We are all called to be ';disciples,'; which means ';learners.'; You must gradually learn how to understand spiritual principals, otherwise you'll have a hard time progressing in your walk with the Lord. There are many trustworthy teachers of Scripture today and your brothers and sisters on R%26amp;S would be glad to recommend some if you need names.

So to summarize, by doing all these things, you will FILL your mind with what is good and push out (by God's strength, not your own) what is bad. It takes effort and lots of prayer, but hang in there -- the rewards are AWESOME!
The temptation to sin is just as difficult for us old folk. Maybe even more so because we don't have other people (parents, teachers, etc) watching our every move. Sounds like you've got a lot of good advice so far. Remember God already knew you would sin when he adopted you. (Romans 5:8) Just think of him as the perfect father. Try not to worry about what you shouldn't do and concentrate on what you should.

Listen to Christian music.

Write down a promise verse in the morning before you leave and think on it throughout the day.

Pray continually 1Thes 5:17 (this doesn't mean every second, but just remember Jesus is with you always you can pray any time you want- the person next to you doesn't even have to know)

Find some Christian friends to spend time with. They are going through the same struggles and can offer support.

It may not get any easier to avoid temptation as you get older, but it does get easier as you get closer to Him. Besides, God didn't give us all these rules like some kind of pass or fail test. He gave them to us to help guide us through life. He knows what is best for our happiness.

Don't let guilt get in your way either. You have been forgiven for your past. When the devil reminds you where you've been, remind him where he's going.:)
1: Yes repent and ask for forgiveness. Ask God to help you. He will never tire of a true repentance. What does it mean to repent? Of course it means the feel sorry for what you did, but it also mean to turn from that behavior. I know that it is not easy, but since when is anything worth wile easy?

2: Do your best to stay away from situations that put you in a compromising position.

Here is my advise for you. Everything that you are taught from the pulpit or from any teacher, Study on your own. You might have to get a Greek/Hebrew translation Bible (about $80) and a Strong's Concordance. You can search by subject or word. If you want to contact me I can give you more detailed information on how this is done.
first of all, it is impossible to live a perfect life. God knows that you are tempted and he understands. He will forgive you every time that you ask him to - if you are sincere. God will not grow weary. You can not disappoint him, because he knows the future, he knows your heart, so how can you be disappointed if you already know the future?? Hmmm?

It is very hard to resist temptations, sometimes just impossible. But, as long as you try to do whats right, God knows your heart.

Now then - here's a good rule for school:

';Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path - and leave a trail.';

Don't try to be like others just to ';fit in'; with the crowd. Let them see that you are different and they will have the desire to be like YOU.

Pray daily. I'm proud of you. Good luck.
Start the day off with prayer, so you'll be armed for the day. Read the Bible -- it will give you something to chew on all day. Look at every day like it's an adventure with God. What's going to happen to us today, God? You might have to start pulling away from some friends if you find yourself falling into the same routines all the time. If they ask why you are being stand-offish, you might be honest with them, that you are tired of the gossip and the crude talk. You're a senior now, and it's time to get more mature than that. It might give them something to think about.
Psalm 19:14: Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
